Jessica Ann Simpson Johnson, born July 10, 1980, is an American singer-actress, actress, entrepreneur, and philanthropist. After singing in the church choir as a child, Simpson signed with Columbia Records in 1997, aged seventeen. Sweet Kisses, her first studio album, was released in 1999. It sold two million copies in the United States. She also enjoyed commercial success with the single "I Wanna Love You Forever". Simpson's sophomore studio album, Irresistible was a maturer release. Its title track became Simpson's second highest-charting Billboard Hot 100 entry. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) has certified the album as gold. In This Skin (2003) the third studio album by Simpson was a huge success, selling three million copies across the United States. In the beginning of her career, Simpson became known for her romance with and later marriage to Nick Lachey and Nick Lachey, with whom she was also a part of the MTV reality TV show Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica between 2003 between 2003 and 2005. Simpson's first Christmas album ReJoyce was released in 2004 and it was certified gold. She made her debut in the film The Dukes of Hazzard (2005) as Daisy Duke. The soundtrack of the film also included a cover of "These Boots Are Made for Walkin'". In 2006, she released her fifth studio album A Public Affair and appeared in the romantic comedy film Employee of the Month. Simpson became a country singer after the release of her sixth album Do You Know (2008). Apart from her music career, Simpson launched The Jessica Simpson Collection in 2005, a fashion focused collection that includes 34 categories of products. It's the most successful known brand licensed by a celebrity with more than $1 billion in sales as of today. Simpson also appeared on The Price of Beauty, the reality TV show that aired in the year 2010. She also supervised the fashion designs for Fashion Star 2 and 3. Simpson is married to Eric Johnson, with whom she has three kids.
